Chinese Vendor Claims First Large-Scale Embodied AI Deployment

The claim hinges on 'large-scale' doing a lot of work: Agibot has not, as far as public reporting shows, released deployment numbers, customer names, or uptime data that would let anyone verify the distinction between a scaled pilot and genuine production deployment.

The timing is notable. Google DeepMind published Gemini Robotics-ER 1.6 on April 13th, and Physical Intelligence unveiled its π0.7 model on April 16th, both framing embodied AI progress in terms of capability research rather than deployment at scale. Agibot's announcement cuts against that grain by claiming the production milestone has already arrived, which is a different and harder claim to substantiate. The MIT Technology Review piece from April 16th on treating enterprise AI as an operating layer is relevant here: the competitive moat in physical AI may ultimately belong to whoever controls the operational infrastructure, not whoever ships the first press release about scale. Agibot is implicitly making that infrastructure argument, but without the evidence to back it.

Watch whether any named manufacturing or logistics customer publicly confirms ongoing production use within the next 60 days. If no third-party validation surfaces, this announcement belongs in the same category as the AI rebrand hype The Verge flagged on April 17th.
