Headless everything for personal AI

The more consequential claim isn't that headless APIs are coming — they already exist — it's that personal AI agents will become the dominant *distribution channel* for services, which means the GUI layer loses its role as the primary moat. Salesforce shipping Headless 360 is the first major CRM vendor to price that bet explicitly.

This connects directly to the MIT Technology Review piece from mid-April on treating enterprise AI as an operating layer. That story argued competitive advantage would shift toward whoever controls the infrastructure where agents are deployed and governed, not toward whoever has the best model. A headless-first architecture is exactly that kind of infrastructure play: Salesforce is positioning itself as a required intermediary between personal AI agents and enterprise data, regardless of which model the agent runs. The Cloudflare Agent Cloud integration with OpenAI (covered April 13) shows the same logic from the infrastructure side. Both moves assume agents will be persistent, production-grade, and numerous enough to justify dedicated plumbing.

Watch whether Salesforce publishes a developer API spec for Headless 360 within the next two quarters. If they do, it signals genuine architectural commitment; if the product stays a marketing label without a public integration surface, this is positioning ahead of demand rather than a response to it.
