Tech CEOs Think AI Will Let Them Be Everywhere at Once

The framing around 'being everywhere at once' obscures the sharper implication: AI-assisted executive control isn't just a productivity tool, it's a structural argument for flattening middle management and concentrating decision authority at the top. That's a governance story as much as a technology one.

MIT Technology Review's April 16 piece on 'treating enterprise AI as an operating layer' is the right lens here. That story argued the real competitive advantage in enterprise AI isn't model quality but control over the operational infrastructure where AI is governed and refined. What Zuckerberg and Dorsey are describing fits that thesis almost exactly: they're not buying a capability, they're building an infrastructure layer that routes organizational authority through themselves. The risk MIT flagged — that this structural shift gets ignored while everyone watches benchmarks — applies directly. A CEO-as-operating-system model is easy to announce and very hard to audit.

Watch whether either Meta or Dorsey's current ventures ship internal tooling that formally replaces a defined management layer (a VP tier, a regional director function) within the next 12 months. That would confirm this is operational strategy, not executive branding.
